City Deer Hunt - Applications Now Available - Deadline EXTENDED to Sept 21st

The City of Owatonna will once again hold a city deer hunt.  For an application - click here!  This year's hunt will be based off of your regular deer tags.  The hunt is antlerless with the option to Earn-a-Buck.  Please be sure to thoroughly read the rules. 

Archery Range

The archery range located at 711 N Elm is opening September 20 at 8 am.  Normal hours operation will be 7 am-dusk. 

Brooktree Golf Course

September 16-30: 8 a.m.-7 p.m.

Park PassportBegins September 8, The Park Passport program is an initiative of the City of Owatonna Parks and Recreation Department to promote healthy lifestyle choices. The program   encourages families to explore our parks and exercise by walking the mapped trails. The four-week program is FREE and all access to the parks is FREE! Please note the Muckle Trail has been substituted for the North Straight River Trail (which is not ready for use yet). Print off your updated passport maps here or stop in the Park & Rec office to pick up an updated copy.

Minute To Win It Skills Challenge, October 7, 1:00 - 4:00pm - Join us at Brown Park for a fast paced, fun filled afternoon of exciting 'Minute to Win It' and Backyard games! Test your skills to see if your team has what it takes to be the best! This is an intergenerational event with activities for all skill levels. Prize packages will be awarded for first, second, and third place teams, with all participants going home with something!
Register your team of 4 to 6 players today! Teams must be comprised of youth and adults of all ages (adults cannot outnumber the youth).  Youth ages 16 and under. Adults ages 17 and up. Click here for flyer.

4th Annual Trick or Treat Trail, October 28th, 2:00 - 4:00pm - Ghosts and Goblins, Ghouls and Boys of all ages grab your trick or treat bags and head out to Manthey Park for our 4th Annual Trick or Treat Trail! Visit local businesses along the trail for treats, games, a photo shoot, and crafts. Take a ride on the kiddie train ride, find spooky treasures in the scavenger hunt, and visit the cute animals at the petting zoo!  NEW at this year’s event include FREE pony rides! We’ll also have bounce houses, free hot chocolate and food trucks. Event is FREE but if you’d like to donate to our community, we will be taking food shelf donations. Submit your favorite park or trail photo for your chance to win a $25 or $10 gift card and be featured in the 2018 Owatonna Parks and Recreation calendar!  Click here for flyer.

Submit your photo by email to: or mail photos to: 540 West Hills Circle, Owatonna, Attn: Jessica.  Photos must be submitted by October 13, 2017 and must include Photographer’s name and phone number.  The cover photo winner will receive a $25 Owatonna Park and Rec gift card, monthly photo winners will receive a $10 gift card and all winners will receive a free calendar.  *By submitting, you agree that you have taken the photo submitted.  Submitted photos may be used at the discretion of Owatonna Parks & Recreation, including and not limited to websites, social media, print and online publications, etc.

Rockin' Around Owatonna

Explore your Owatonna Parks and you might just find an inspirational treasure!  Head out to your Owatonna parks, and you might be lucky enough to find a work of art – a rock creatively painted or with an inspirational message.  If you find a painted rock you would like to keep, feel free to do so; however, you must replace it with a work of art of your own.  Click here for project details. 

Park Pavilion Rentals

Pavilion Rentals are available one year in advance.  Call the Parks and Recreation office at 444-4321 or stop by our office to make a reservation. Payment is due at the time of the reservation.
