Browsing & Computer Appointments

Owatonna Public Library (OPL) staff continue to adapt our services in response to the COVID-19 pandemic with an emphasis on the safety of our staff and patrons. You can access library services in-person (by Appointment only) and online.

Keep in mind, an in-person visit to the Library will look and feel different while the need for physical distancing continues.

Browsing: Available By Appointment Only (call 507-774-7006)

  • Browsing Appointments begin at the top of the hour (patrons will not be allowed to enter early) and end promptly at fifteen minutes before the next hour.
  • A full 45 minutes is not guaranteed. All appointments end promptly at fifteen minutes before the next hour or sooner.
  • Masks are required. If you do not have a mask, we will provide one for you. If you are not able to wear a mask, library staff will help you via telephone or online assistance.
  • Staff assistance is limited to what can be done while maintaining six feet of physical distance.
  • Browsing appointments in Adult Services do not include computer use.
  • Self-checkout is strongly encouraged (remember to bring your library card!).
  • One appointment per person per week.
  • There is a strict limit of 30 people in the building (including browsers, staff, and computer users) per appointment. You must tell us at the time you make an appointment how many total browsers are coming.
  • Ages 16 and younger may not enter without a parent/guardian.
  • Appointments can be scheduled:
    • Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays: 12:00-12:45pm, 1:00-1:45pm, 2:00-2:45pm, 3:00-3:45pm
    • Tuesdays & Thursdays: 9:00-9:45am, 10:00-10:45am, 4:00-4:45pm, 5:00-5:45p

  • No headphones provided (bring your own if needed).

  • There is a strict limit of 30 people in the building (including browsers, staff, and computer users) per appointment. You may bring one (1) person along to your computer appointment if you need their assistance. You must tell us at the time you make the reservation if you are bringing someone..
  • Ages 18+ make an appointment for one of the computers in Adult Services. Only aged 17 and younger are allowed to use computers in Children's Services. Ages 16 and younger can not enter without a parent/guardian.
