Aging Mastery Program

The first Aging Mastery Class of this session starts Tuesday, October 24. The Owatonna SeniorPlace is pleased to announce that we will be offering the third health and wellness package to all residents 55 and over. The program is called the Aging Mastery Program (AMP), and it was developed by the National Council on Aging (NCOA). If you haven't taken the AMP classes yet, this is a wonderful opportunity for adults to participate in, and reap the benefits of, this cutting edge wellness program designed for teaching seniors how to master the process of aging. We are currently recruiting 30 adults age 55 and better to participate in a five-week educational program. The goal of this program is to empower older adults to make and maintain small but impactful changes to their daily lives.

These classes will explore how to navigate:

  • Advanced Planning
  • Community Engagement
  • Fall Prevention
  • Financial Management
  • Healthy Eating and Hydration
  • Healthy Relationships
  • Longer Life
  • Medication Management
  • Physical Activity
  • Sleep

For each of these classes we will provide basic educational materials developed from highly trusted sources, a checklist of future steps, and a system for tracking behaviors. Participants will earn points for positive actions and rewards. Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 to 11:30 a.m., starting on October 24 and going through November 28, 2017 (no class on November 23) This will be a free 5 week program.
