Cops in the Community
As a department, we realize we cannot address crime problems in this community alone. We have a duty and responsibility to involve members of the community in matters that impact the quality of their lives. We constantly work to renew and develop new community bonds to ensure that the people most impacted by crime have a voice in identifying and resolving problems in their neighborhoods.
Citizen’s Academy is held in the fall of each year. At the Citizen’s Police Academy, you will have the opportunity to see and hear first hand the overwhelming curriculum officers must master before they can wear the uniform of the Owatonna Police Department.
Shop with a Cop
Each year, the Salvation Army and local law enforcement agencies work together to provide a day to Shop With A Cop. Owatonna Police Department officers are proud to volunteer their time for this worthwhile cause.
Steele County Safety Camp occurs each year in June. Children from throughout Steele County who have completed third grade are invited to spend a few days learning about safety.
Night to Unite
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 edition of Night to Unite will be held Tuesday, October 6th, 2020. Night to Unite typically occurs on the 1st Tuesday in August and serves as a conduit between law enforcement and the community to promote police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie and enhance relationships.
City of Owatonna Landlord Association (COLA)
The City of Owatonna Landlord Association (COLA) was established in June 2005 in an effort to network both small and large property rental owners in developing a relationship with local law enforcement.
